St Barts is an island of Lesser Antilles and an overseas community ( COM) of the French Republic since July 15th, 2007. Before this date, it was a French municipality of the French overseas department of Guadeloupe, dates in which  the change of status came into effect lors the first meeting of the territorial council recently elected. On October 29th, 2010, the European council approved the evolution of the status of the island towards that of the countries and overseas territories ( PTOM), from January 1st, 2012. She is familiarly called Saint-Barth (or St Barts by the Americans). His inhabitants are collectively conscripts Saint-Barths.
